The Team formed in 1999 - a group of retired
military officers presenting enrichment lectures aboard cruise vessels
around the world. Consistently acclaimed as guest lecturers and
increasingly in demand, they are now The
History Team - with a broad focus on the history of nations and cities on a ship's itinerary. The Team now includes several civilian speakers
expert in related areas of human endeavour.
Our repertoire of social, cultural and military
history presentations is specially tailored to each voyage, relevant to seas and
ports traversed by the ship and appropriate to passenger age and
nationality profiles, according to the wishes of the line's Head Office, Cruise Director
and passengers. All members of the Team are well-versed in history
and highly accomplished public speakers.
Our aim is to make Great Events come alive for people interested
in history and, especially, for people whose relatives or friends
took part in momentous events of the 20th Century.
Our honorary cruise lecturing activities are
centrally coordinated but we do not operate as a commercial agency
or speakers’ bureau and we have no financial relationship.
We have presented enrichment lectures throughout
the South Pacific, South East Asia, North Asia, northern Europe,
the Mediterranean, Black Sea, Baltic, Indian Ocean, North Pacific,
Atlantic and Antarctic.
We have been invited to lecture on over 100 cruises aboard Seabourn
Sun, Seabourn Spirit, Seabourn Legend, Crystal Harmony, Silver Cloud, Silver Shadow,
Silver Whisper, Queen Mary 2, Queen Victoria, Saga Rose, Black Watch, The World of ResidenSea,
Amsterdam, Statendam, Prinsendam, Volendam, Rotterdam, Seven Seas Voyager,
Orion, Nautica, Spirit of Adventure, Mercury, Rhapsody of the Seas and Norwegian
Star.
